A Lesson in Practicing Humility

A Lesson in Practicing Humility

By: Rev. Carrie Fraser

Sunday Sermon: A lesson in practicing humility

“This parable in Luke isn’t just a story on social etiquette, but a lesson in practicing humility. We are reminded not to focus on the social payoff or reward of our invitations and hospitality. We are challenged to invite and practice hospitality with those who cannot repay us. This is where we find our blessings because at the heart of this invitation is inviting into the presence of God those who neither expect nor think that they deserve such an invitation. Those who believe that they are not worthy of God’s love.”

Scripture text is Luke 14: 1, 7-14
