We are free…free from the bondage of addiction

Sunday Sermon: We are free…free from the bondage of addiction

“Our past, our hurts, even our successes may be descriptively true of us, but they do not define us. Nothing we have done or has been done to us captures who we are completely. Only one thing can do that: God, our Creator and Sustainer. And God has chosen to call us God’s beloved children and we are precious to God and we are loved. That is what defines us. And so with God and this program we are free. We are free to work these steps, embrace this spiritual principles, and free to define and embrace the God of your understanding. We are free…free from the bondage of addiction. We are free to live life abundantly.”

Scripture text is Mark 10: 46-52

  1. Thanks Carrie, for the inspirational message and all you do in ministry to patients and families facing the disease of addiction. I can relate my recovery to many Biblical characters including Paul and his many sins and shortcomings before finding his faith and all the hardships he was able to endure with that new faith. Paul’s story and where he landed in the end is a pretty good example to me of God’s grace and forgiveness. I was taught that recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Job’s OT story and his long suffering tribulations helps me face my recovery with patience and willingness to take the 12 steps.

    Thanks again Carrie…
