The America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers ranking highlights the nation’s top facilities based on quality of service, reputation, and accreditation relative to in-state competition. Facilities in the 25 states with the highest number of addiction treatment centers, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), were included in the survey to determine the Best Addiction Treatment Center in Tennessee. The evaluation process was comprised of three steps:
Nationwide Survey
Over 4,000 medical professionals (therapists, counselors, medical doctors) and managers/administrators who work in addiction treatment facilities were invited to an online survey. Participants were asked to recommend notable addiction treatment centers in their respective states. The professional experience of the participants was considered and recommendations for each professional’s employer were not allowed.
Quality Score
Participants were asked to rank the quality dimensions which influence the quality of rehabilitation facilities, including quality of care, quality of follow-up care, quality of service, and accommodation and amenities.
Accreditation Score
Accreditation data on addiction treatment centers provided by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Nine types of accreditations were considered from accrediting bodies such as the State Substance Abuse Agency, the State Mental Health Department, the State Department of Health, and more.

Cumberland Heights was the first treatment center of its kind in the state of Tennessee. Sitting on 177-acres of sprawling Tennessee hills, our Cumberland Heights campus features a beautiful courtyard, Serenity Trail, memorial garden, walking trail, pond, and chapel. More About Our Programs
Cumberland Heights offers gender-specific inpatient and outpatient treatment, 12-Step immersion retreats, and a state-of-the-art facility for teen boys, ages 14-18. We also offer expert medical care, family support, and evidence-based psychotherapies. We offer more than a dozen Intensive Outpatient Care locations across the state of Tennessee. Our services at these facilities include education about the disease of addiction, 12-step meetings, as well as group, individual, and family therapy. Our Outpatient Recovery Centers provide the education and support to begin practicing a recovery lifestyle. They also offer the next step for those individuals who began their recovery within a residential program, affording a transition back to the home and work environment while still being support in early recovery practices.
In addition to providing expert addiction medicine care during residential stays, Cumberland Heights offers addiction medicine follow-up care and extended care for outpatients and those who have completed their residential stay.
