“My son spent four months at ARCH Academy beginning in early April this year just after they had moved to the new facility. This was just as the COVID-19 pandemic was becoming a major concern, and we were hesitant to send our son somewhere out of our control. Looking back, I can’t imagine our lives today if we had not made the decision to send him. We worked with Amara in the beginning and she was so understanding and calm with us. We knew that because of COVID we might not be able to see him other than on Zoom calls, which was the case.

Our family counselor was amazing. She clicked with our son immediately and after that each person we came into contact with made us feel like our son’s welfare was their primary concern. We could tell that each individual had a passion for helping adolescents.

My son was a bit difficult during the first 60 days. It was recommended that his stay be extended. He was angry and many times refused to speak to us. They had more patience than anyone can imagine, and slowly he began to accept his situation.

The ARCH staff also focused on us as parents as well. They recommended books, AL-ANON meetings, as well as several parent counseling sessions via Zoom, which taught us skills that we are now using with both our children.

It is almost impossible as a parent to give your child up to someone else even when you know the problem is too big for you to handle.  ARCH made it simple and comforting. I am not sure my son would be alive today if we hadn’t trusted the team at ARCH.

I absolutely would recommend ARCH to anyone with a child with substance abuse problems.”
